Pahim Path Ceremony – September 10th 2021
We are excited to inform you that our senior students will be taking part in the Pahim Path Ceremony on Friday the 10th of September 2021.
For the past several years many students of Sihala Kala Rangayathanaya (SKR) have been studying traditional dances of Sri Lanka, particularly Kandyan Dancing. Keeping this in mind SKR has decided to hold a “Pahim Path” Mangalya (ceremony) towards the end of 2021.
“Pahim Path” is the female equivalent to Ves Mangalya. When a Kandyan dance student has been dancing for several years and has reached an advanced level in their techniques, they will take on the Pahim path ceremony to showcase their capabilities to their family and friends. It is typically considered a rite of passage for young dancers to perform their “Pahim Path”and it is often considered the debut dance of a new generation of tradition bearers that will teach the next generation.
With that in mind, we would greatly appreciate it if you could join us to celebrate this auspicious moment.
